NASA announced Thursday it has joined the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Thilo Kranz, a staff member at DLR, the German Space Agency, took this image of the transit of the International Space Station ISS with Space Shuttle Atlantis during the STS-132 mission. Kranz photographed "the ISS as it passed across the solar disk in just 0.51 seconds ... At this time, preparations for undocking of space shuttle Atlantis during its final mission, STS-132, were ongoing. You can see the still docked shuttle in the 11 o'clock position. Space shuttle Atlantis' main gear touched down on Runway 33 at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 8:48 a.m. EDT, completing a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. On board were Commander Ken Ham, pilot Tony Antonelli, Garrett Reisman, Michael Good, Steve Bowen and Piers Sellers. Data from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) have helped scientists solve a pair of mysteries dating back four decades and provided new information about climate change on the Red Planet.

Veteran astronauts Dominic Gorie and John "Danny" Olivas are leaving NASA. Olivas' last day with the agency was Tuesday, May 25 and Gorie's is June 4.

Space shuttle Atlantis and its six-member crew are expected to return to Earth on Wednesday, May 26, after a 12-day mission. NASA managers will evaluate weather conditions at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida before permitting Atlantis to land.

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, or SDO, has allowed scientists for the first time to comprehensively view the dynamic nature of storms on the sun.

NASA's space shuttle astronauts will answer elementary and middle school students' questions Saturday, May 22 while orbiting miles above Earth.

The 12 crew members aboard space shuttle Atlantis and the International Space Station will hold a news conference at 5:25 a.m. CDT on Sunday, May 23.
